Managing transport rates
Introduction
To use the Rates feature, remember to enable it in the Base module.
Access: Application config → Apps management → Base, configure → Pricings tab → click on “Enable pricing scales”.
Access: Stock management → Configuration → Transport Rates
Transport rates are only associated with the Sales module. Note that transport rates are intrinsically linked to the Supply Chain module. Therefore, menu entries are available from the Stock management menu.
It is from the Stock management menu that the user will be able to create pricings and rules, as well as delivery methods.
At the same time, configure the products/shipping costs from the Sales module. From the Sales module, it is possible to modify an order and add lines containing shipping costs.
Remember to create the pricing rules (a result/classification rule).
For example: pricing lines can correspond to weight and price. Classification rules can then take the weight of the order into account.
Transportation rates can be found in the Stock management menu. For example:
-
Delay pricing (i.e delivery time pricing);
-
Pricing rules.
It is up to the user to choose a specific classification for delivery times/rates.
Create a transport rate
Steps to follow:
-
Create the rate rules. Access: Stock management → Configuration → Transport rates → Pricing rules.
-
Configure the transport rates (the rate rules must be applied to them). Access: Stock management → Configuration → Transport rates → Pricing
Configure a pricing rule
Access: Stock management → Configuration → Transport rates → Pricing Rules
On the pricing rule form, you can create a classification rule. For example, for order weight:
-
Enter the necessary information (name/company).
-
Type: select the type of rule (classification/result). For example, classification.
-
Concerned model: select a concerned model. For example, FreightCarrierPricing.
-
Field type: add a field type (integer/text/decimal). For example, decimal.
-
Operator: select an operator (< / = / >). For example, >.
-
Scale: set the scale. For example, 2.
-
Formula: enter the formula.
On the pricing rule sheet, you can create a result rule (for example, for rates based on order weight):
-
Enter the necessary information (name/company).
-
Concerned model: select a concerned model. For example, FreightCarrierPricing.
-
Type: select the type of rule (classification/result). For example, result.
-
Formula: enter the formula.
-
Field to fill in: fill in the field to be filled in. For example, pricingAmount. It’s a rule that allows you to store information from the calculation result in the pricingAmount field. Different rates will be applied depending on the weight.
Configure a transport rate
In the pricing file:
-
Enter the necessary information (name/company/start date/end date/etc.).
-
Classification rules: apply the classification rules, if necessary. For example, you can configure a classification rule for the weight of the order
-
Result rules: apply the result rules, if necessary.
-
Pricing lines: add the pricing lines. For example: if the order weight is 250.01 (it exceeds 250), then the delivery rate will be estimated at 5.25. If the order weight is 500.01, the delivery rate will be estimated at 7.35, etc.
Create shipping costs
Access: Sales → Configuration → Shipping costs → on the form, check the “Shipping cost product” box
Create a shipping cost product of type “Product.”
The new shipping cost product can then be entered on an order line.
Shipping costs are used in Delivery Methods (access: Stock management → Configuration → Shipment mode).
-
Shipping costs: on the shipment mode file, add a shipping cost product in the “Shipping costs” field that you configured beforehand.
-
Carriage paid threshold: it is important to respect the threshold. If you exceed the threshold, the shipping cost line will not be created.
If the shipping cost product is not entered, the shipping cost line will not be created.
Configure Shipment modes
Access: Stock management → Configuration → Shipment modes
-
Freight carrier mode: here, enter the title of the Freight carrier mode. For example, Colissimo.
-
Freight carrier: select a carrier. Carriers must be configured in advance in the “Freight carrier” menu (access: Stock management → Configuration → Freight carrier).
-
Shipment mode: select a shipment mode. Shipment modes must be configured in advance in the “Shipment mode” menu (access: Stock management→ Configuration → Shipment mode).
-
Freight carrier pricing/Freight carrier delay: on the freight carrier mode sheet, add links to the price lists (in this example, these are the “Carrier price” and “Carrier delivery time” fields). Access: Stock management→ Configuration → Freight carrier modes
You can create price lists based on the carrier. For example, create Colissimo price lists.
Applying transport rates on customer quotes
Access: Sales → Sale quotations
-
Open a quote.
-
Content-Order lines: in the Content tab, add an order line by clicking +.
-
Delivery - Shipping mode: in the Delivery tab, select the shipping mode.
-
Select freight carrier: once the shipping method has been selected, the “Select freight carrier” button appears. This button only appears in edit mode. However, it is possible to do this manually by filling in the “Freight carrier mode” and ‘Carrier’ fields.
- When you click on the button, the “Transport rates” pop-up window appears. Select the carrier from the list displayed (the carrier must be configured beforehand).
Please note that in order to proceed with the configurations described above, it is necessary to configure the taxes beforehand.
- FDP: when you return to the Content tab, a new FDP line will be visible in the “Detail Line” table. This is the Shipping Costs line.
When you select the freight carrier mode, the estimated delivery time is 3 days.
If the estimated shipping date is entered, the 3-day delivery time will be added to the date to give an estimated delivery date.
For example, if the shipping date is set for September 27, with a delivery time of 3 days, delivery will take place on September 30.
If the shipping date is not entered, there will be no delivery date.
However, there might be an exception: a pricing scale is applied. A shipping date is automatically entered. The estimated delivery date is also indicated.
If the user wishes to change the estimated delivery date manually, an error message will appear stating that the delivery date has been changed but the shipping date will not be changed. It should be noted that the shipping date cannot be changed despite the application of the pricing scale.
