Configurators

Activate configurators in the Manufacturing app first, in order for the configurators menu to appear in the Manufacturing menu.

Access: Application Config → Apps Management → Manufacturing, configure → in the “Main Configurations” section, activate the “Enable production configurator” option.

The configurator will allow to define attributes (decimal, option, relational). These attributes, in turn, are used in formulas. The formulas will then calculate prices and costs / a product family, etc.

Access the configurators from the Manufacturing app:

Access: Manufacturing → Configuration → Configurators

Configurator

Access: Manufacturing → Configuration → Configurators

  1. There are several types of manufacturing configurators:
  • Bill of Materials Configurator (Configurator BOM) ;

  • Bill of Materials Component Configurator (Configurator BOM components) ;

  • Configurator production process ;

  • Configurator phase ;

  • Product to Consume Configurator (Configurator prod product).

  1. A manufacturing configurator is a part of the sales configurator (manufacturing configurators have the same operating logic). Moreover, on the Configurator Creator manufacturing page, you will find a bill of materials configurator.
  • Configurator BOM: components are defined with the help of the scripts. The relational field allows you to define your components (based on the products selected by the salesperson). This configurator allows you to generate a bill of materials based on the decision that had been made by the salesperson following the drafting of a sale quotation. With one click, select the component. Upon validation of this configurator, you will get a complete bill of materials.

  • Configurator BOM Components: components are defined with the help of the scripts. For example, “box_1” (via the relational field).

tip

Be aware that it is possible to configure a configurator creator (i.e.model) with the help of a script. It is also possible to manually enter product information.

  • Configurator production process: this configurator uses the same operating logic. Here, you will find the routing fields. Then, enter the label manually or use a script.
  1. Find the different phases.
  • Configuration phase is important for the last configurator. Here, click on a phase to access the configurator phase. Then, enter the information manually or enter a condition (for example, “computerAssembly_1 == true”). The label and priority can be entered by hand or using formulas. For example: checking or not the “Computer Assembly” option will add or not an “assembly” phase in the routing.

  • Configurator Phase: here, define a specific workstation. For a specific workstation, you can define constraints, for example, depending on the dimensions, the task will be assigned to one workstation rather than another.

tip

Thanks to the scripts, customize your configurators and generate operational phases and components on a case-by-case basis according to your needs.

  • Configurator prod product: you will find products to be consumed attached to phases. A condition may apply.
info

Once everything is configured, it becomes possible to use it on a quote.

Add a line with a configurator

Once the configurators have been set up, you can apply them to a sale quotation.

Access: Sales → Sale quotations → +

  1. Create a sales quotation. For more details on creating a sales quotation, see the existing documentation on the Sales app, Sale Quotation section.

  2. Add line from Configurator: click this button to add a line with a configurator.

  3. Generate configurator: the “Generate configurator” window will open. Here, enter the Configurator creator (e.g., “Custom Computer”) and then click on “Generate”.

  4. Once the model is selected, you will be able to enter the details (for a custom computer, you will be able to choose the case, hard drive, motherboard, etc.).

  5. Validate and generate the line: once you have completed the information, click the “validate and generate the line” button.

  6. The product will be added to the “Details Lines” table in the Content tab. You can then find the bill of materials that has been generated.

  7. Click on the product line.

  8. In the Sales Order Line window, click on the Configuration tab.

  9. Enter the supply mode.

  10. If a bill of materials was created and attached to the configurator, it will open automatically. The bill of materials will contain all the components.

  11. Similarly, the routing window will open automatically (provided it was created beforehand with the configurator).
