Introduction
Computer-aided manufacturing management (CAMM) is a software-assisted manufacturing management method. It is used to manage all the production-related activities of an industrial company.
This application is used to manage manufacturing. Here you will find the creation and management of bills of material, production processs and work centers. Bills of material have an unlimited tree structure. You can create production and manufacturing orders and plan your manufacturing. The application manages finite and infinite capacity planning. The manufacturing application works with the inventory management application.
The requirements calculation enables you to generate manufacturing orders, taking into account current stock levels, forecasts and current and future orders.
The reservation of components and the planning of future stock are carried out when the manufacturing order is planned, and the use of components and the corresponding stock movements for finished products and scrap, when the manufacturing order is carried out.
Tracking numbers can be managed during production, either manually or automatically.
Machines and work centers
Machines
Access : Manufacturing → Configuration → Machines → +
The machine file contains all the information specific to a machine, its make, code, dates, costs, etc.
The number of work centers and the type of machine can be found on the file.
Set up this information via : Manufacturing → Configuration → Machine types → +.
Finally, you can enter the machine schedules and retrieve a chart and the machine load schedule.
Configure a machine
Access: Manufacturing → Configuration → Machines → +

Enter a name.

Stock location: in the ‘Stock location’ field, enter a stock location that will be associated with this machine.

Serial number: fill in the serial number.

Brand: enter the machine brand.

Code: enter a code.
-
Manuf.reference: fill in a reference.
-
Buying price: indicate the purchase price (for information only).
-
Maintenance cost: indicate a maintenance cost.
-
Buying currency : define the purchase currency.
-
Define the date of purchase / date of manufacture.
-
Disposal date: define the disposal date (if this machine will no longer be used).

Work centers: specify the number of work centers associated with the machine.

Machine type: if necessary, add a machine type.
Configure the different machine types in the ‘Machine Type’ menu.
Access: Manufacturing → Configuration → Machine types → +.
On the ‘Machine Type’ sheet, enter a name and fill in the code. Save the changes you have made.
- Machine planning: associate a machine planning with the ‘Machine planning’ field in the ‘Planning and performance’ section. You can create a schedule either directly from this field by clicking on +Create, or from the Machine Planning menu (Access: Manufacturing → Configuration → Machine planning).
In the example, we are going to create a 2/8 schedule:

On the machine file, in the ‘Machine planning’ field, click +Create.

The ‘Weekly planning’ configuration window will open.

Enter the name. For example, ‘2x8 schedule’.

Enter a type of planning. For example, Machine. Note that it is possible to create a ‘human resources’ type schedule with coefficients for the bonus and with a percentage of activity.

Indicate the hours for a 2x8 schedule.

Click OK.
- It is also possible to add a planning for public holidays.
On the machine file, you can view :

Previsional charge rate (% per hour).
-
Previsional charge rate (% per day).
The period cannot exceed 20 days.
In addition, the schedules are part of the finite planning process, enabling you to calculate deadlines as accurately as possible.
From the machine file, you will find various graphs that allow you to follow the machine load over time. Among other things, this makes it possible to measure any load overruns or, on the contrary, availability on certain machines.
Configuring a work center
Introduction
A load work center is an operational manufacturing unit. The load work center can be of the following types: Machine, Human or Human and Machine.
The machine parameters define the capacity, costs and times inherent in the work center.
The various times are used to define the duration of an operation as follows: Start time → Duration / Cycle Time → between two cycles Duration / Cycle → End time → Inter-operation time
Please note that operation duration includes stages from start time to close time.
If the type of work center is Human or Human and Machine. It is necessary to define the associated human costs, which can be defined per piece or per hour. You can define a HR time per cycle for this item. If it exists already, the machine parameters will take precedence in defining the operation time for this work center.
Skills may be required to assign a human resource to a work center. You can create these skills from the ‘Skills’ menu (access: HR → Recruitment → Configuration → Skills).
These skills can be selected from an employee's form view in the Training tab.
Here is a step-by-step example.
Functional example: creating a work center
Access : Manufacturing → Configuration → Work centers → +

Enter a label. For example, ‘Drilling work center’.

Enter a code. For example, PFOR.

Select a work center type. For example, Human and Machine. In this case, the ‘Machine’ and ‘Employees’ fields will appear. In addition, two new tabs will appear: ‘Machine settings’ and ‘Human resources’.

Fill in the ‘Machine’ field. For example, the Drill.

In the ‘Employees’ field, add a default employee. This can be one or more employees. This field is not mandatory.
Machine settings tab
In the Machine settings tab, complete the following information:
- Maximum capacity: it is possible to enter the minimum and maximum capacities for the machine. However, if for some reason you do not wish to impose a limit on the maximum capacity, enter a very large figure in this case. For example, enter 9999999 in the ‘Max capacity / cycle’ field.
Another example:

In the ‘min capacity’ field, you have entered 1.

In the ‘max capacity’ field, you have entered 3.

This means that per 1 cycle the machine will produce between 1 and 3 parts.

Duration: define the duration ; this is the total machine time. For example, 10 minutes.

Starting duration: fill in the starting duration time. This is the time taken to initialise the machine. For example, 30 seconds.

Duration between two cycles: fill in the ‘Duration between two cycles’ field. For example, 10 seconds.

Ending duration: fill in the ‘Ending duration’ field (i.e “closing time”). For example, 10 seconds.

Time between two operations : if required, enter the inter-operation time. This is the time defined between two different manufacturing operations. This time may describe cleaning times, or it may include machine settings.

Next, set up the costs. Select the product.

Next, select a type of cost. For example, per hour.

Fill in the ‘Cost’ field (excluding VAT). In the example, this is the hourly rate (if a cost type is defined as per hour).
Human Resources tab
On the Human Resources tab, complete the following information:

HR Duration Per Cycle: determine the HR duration per cycle. This is the time associated with a shift for this machine. For example, when someone takes the shift on this machine, they must work for 3 hours in a row.

Cost type : it is possible to associate human cost settings. Associate a cost type. For example, select the ‘Per hour’ cost type.

Fill in the Cost (without taxes) field. Here, enter the cost per hour (as the type is ‘cost per hour’). For example, 12 euro.

Fill in the ‘Skills’ field. These are the skills required for this work center.

You can configure the skills. Access : HR → Recruitment → Configuration → Skills.

Create a new skill. Give it a name, e.g. ‘Drill clearance’.

Enter the type. For example, ‘Authorisation’.

Enter the validity period. For example, 2 months.

Save the changes you have made. Refresh the browser. This skill is now available on the work center file (in the Human Resources tab, the Skills field).
Add a skill to an employee.
Access : HR → Employee management → List of employees
Click on an employee file. On the file, click on ‘Personal information’ and then on the Training tab. In this tab, fill in the Skills field. Save the changes you have made.
In newer versions, simply click on the Training tab.
As a result, only an employee with the right skill will be selectable on the work center record that specifies that particular skill.
Create a work center group
Work center groups are used to group together different work centers with a prefilter associated with the type of work center. This makes it easier for you to forecast work loads for a group of work centers.
First, activate the configuration.
Access: Application config → Apps management → Manufacturing, configure → in the Production process section, activate the ‘Manage work center group’ option. Save once the option has been activated. Refresh the browser.
The ‘Work center groups’ menu will then appear in the Manufacturing app (access: Manufacturing → Configuration → Work center groups).
How to create a new work center group?

Click + to create a new record.

On the record, enter a name. For example, ‘Drilling groups’.

Then select the type of work center. For example, ‘Human and machine’. This will bring up other fields/tables to fill in.

From the ‘work center’ table, click on ‘Select’ (the magnifying glass icon) to add a new work center. Select a work center. For example, ‘Drilling rig’.

Save your changes.
You can select other work centers in parallel.
The aim is to make it easier to find and monitor work load percentage per day, associated with all the work load items.
